Lonely Cottage Productions is a design, writing and imaging company specialising in science, environment and wildlife-themed projects. It is run by Helen Walsh, a freelance communicator with more than 15 years’ experience in the creative sector.

about Helen

I am a freelance designer, writer and illustrator with a special interest in science communication. As one of the very first students to graduate from the University of Nottingham with an MSc in Biological Photography and Imaging, my passion for communicating the natural world and the issues it faces was ignited. Since then, I’ve worked across the charitable sector, helping organisations to convey their messages about the environment to a whole host of different people, and using a wide range of marketing tools.

With more than 15 years’ experience, my work has been widely published and I am an expert in graphic design, illustration, photography, editing, writing, branding and interpretation. Working with organisations like The Wildlife Trusts, the British Ecological Society, the United Nations Environment Programme and environmental consultancies has given me an in-depth knowledge of ecology and conservation. All supported by a BSc in Zoology and an Associateship with the Royal Photographic Society.
